About Us

Stuart Axelrod has been in practice since March 1998 providing legal representation in a criminal practice. He also provides representation in the areas of Civil, legal counseling to small businesses, Family Law, Workers Compensation and Social Security.

Mr. Axelrod is admitted before all of the courts of the State of South Carolina, including the South Carolina Court of Appeals, Supreme Court and Federal 4th Circuit. Mr. Axelrod represents private and municipal clients in criminal, litigation and transaction matters.

Mr. Axelrod received his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law, New Jersey in 1997.

Amy Burke has been in practice since 2007 providing legal representation as a family law attorney. She also provides representation in the areas of probate and estate planning.

Ms. Burke is a member of the South Carolina Bar. She is qualified to practice in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina. She is admitted before all of the courts of the State of South Carolina.

Ms. Burke received her Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2005. During law school, Ms. Burke participated in the Family Law Clinic where she represented clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Since 2008, she has volunteered with the Ocean Bay Middle School Mock Trial Team as an attorney coach.

Chris Castro has been in practice since 2006 providing legal representation in both civil litigation and criminal defense matters. Mr. Castro has been licensed as a certified public accountant since 1992 and has an extensive background in accounting and tax matters. Mr. Castro is available for consultation with our other lawyers on specific legal and strategic matters.

Mr. Castro is admitted before all of the courts of the State of South Carolina and the Federal District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is currently deployed with the United States Army.

In 2006 Mr. Castro graduated with honors and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. During law school, Mr. Castro participated in the Criminal Defense Law Clinic where he represented clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney. He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters Degree in accounting.

Carlton Elliott has been in practice since 2008 providing legal representation in a criminal practice. He also provides representation in the areas of Civil, Workers Compensation, Immigration and Personal Injury.

Mr. Elliott is admitted before all of the courts of the State of South Carolina, including the South Carolina Federal District Court and the Federal Immigration Court. Mr. Elliott represents private and municipal clients in immigration, family, criminal, litigation and transaction matters.

Mr. Elliott received his Juris Doctor degree from Quinnipiac School of Law in 2008. During law school, Mr. Elliott served as an Interpreter for the Quinnipiac National Poll.

Paul Taylor has been in practice in South Carolina since May 2002. His areas of focus are criminal defense with an emphasis on DUI, Family Law, Auto Accidents and other civil matters.

Legal Experience

After being admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2002, Mr. Taylor began practicing as an associate attorney in Charleston, South Carolina where he received extensive practical training in the legal arena. In 2004, Mr. Taylor moved to Myrtle Beach and opened his own practice focusing on criminal, family, and civil law. In April 2010, Mr. Taylor left private practice to accept a position as Assistant Solicitor for the 15th Judicial Circuit where he remained until August 2011. Mr. Taylor has also worked as a contract attorney for the Horry County Public Defender's Office and the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Mr. Taylor is admitted before all of the courts of the State of South Carolina, including the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Academic Background

Mr. Taylor received his Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law.

Stephanie has worked with Axelrod & Associates, P,A., since November 2009. She has over 14 years of financial experience. Candace has worked with Axelrod & Associates, P.A., since February 2007. She also serves as a criminal paralegal under the direct supervision of Stuart Axelrod. She provides excellent support to our clients.

Danielle started with Axelrod & Associates, P.A., in June 2010. She has over fourteen years experience in the legal field. She serves as our criminal paralegal under the direct supervision of Stuart Axelrod. Danielle assists in all areas of the criminal process from initial intake to trial preparation and/or plea negotiations. She facilitates communications between our clients, attorneys, prosecutor and the Court.

Sarah has worked with Axelrod & Associates, P.A., since August 2011. She has seven years paralegal experience in law firms assisting in complex litigation matters, including toxic tort products liability claims and white collar criminal investigations. She assists with client interviews; investigations; research and hearing preparations. Sarah provides professional and confident support for our attorney, Carlton E. Elliott. Sarah is also responsible for our administrative tasks in our Charleston office.

Sally started with Axelrod & Associates, P.A., in June 2011. She is responsible for greeting our clients, answering phone calls, assisting clients with questions and scheduling appointments.
