Jonathan Miles was born and raised in Conway, SC. He graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. During Law School at Charleston School of Law, Jonathan started honing his legal skills while working several clerkships. He clerked for attorney M. Brooks Derrick where he learned the ins and outs of handling Personal Injury cases. Jonathan was also a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Bentley Price at Folly Beach Municipal Court. Jonathan’s passion for criminal law started at his clerkship at David Aylor Law Offices where he assisted on several high-profile criminal defense matters with the firm.After graduating Law School at Charleston School of Law, Jonathan was employed as an Assistant Solicitor for the Horry County Solicitor’s Office where he began his legal career in the Magistrate’s Court primarily prosecuting DUIs. From there, Jonathan became the Domestic Violence Prosecutor for Horry County General Sessions Court. Before leaving the Solicitor’s Office for private practice, he moved to the Drug Team in General Sessions Court where he handled drug offense cases ranging from misdemeanor drug possession to serious trafficking offenses. So far in his career, he has tried 15 cases to verdict including two murder trials. In Jonathan’s three years at the Horry County Solicitor’s Office as a prosecutor, he never lost a case.
Jonathan’s time in the Solicitor’s Office gave him insight into how both sides of the law work which has prepared him to defend those accused of committing crimes at Axelrod & Associates, P.A. As an integral part of the Criminal Defense department, Jonathan prides himself on providing knowledgeable and aggressive representation to our clients.
As a native to Horry County, Jonathan grew up on the beaches of the Grand Strand and spends his free time on the water and enjoying the outdoors with his dog, Tank. When he isn’t playing sports himself, Jonathan is cheering on his favorite team, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
